Over the last several years a large number of business opportunities have sprung up. Alot of them are telling us we don’t need to talk to family or friends or attend meetings. I certainly like that idea. After all who wants to pester family and friends and take time out of your schedule each week to attend the business opportunity meetings these companies put on.

The affiliates in these other companies that are telling us we don’t have to do these things are the same ones that are telling us to buy leads and spend several hours per day making phone calls. They usually recommend a lead company to you and tell you “It’s a numbers game.”

If you have ever called leads in the past then you know how difficult and time consuming it can be. Sure, we don’t get the personal rejection from the people we know but it is still a grind. In order to be really successful you need to dial at least 200 phone numbers per day to make any serious money. That of course depends on how much money you make when enrolling someone into the program. Not to mention the cost and quality of the leads your dialing.

I thought that was the only way to build my business. Wake up in the morning, sit down at my desk, and star dialing. I may be my own boss but it’s not much fun.

I learned there was another way. A way that you could get quality leads for free and never have to pick-up the telephone to make another phone call. Branding is very important to companies nowadays. Through the brand, a company can communicate with its consumers. A brand is considered to be valuable if it elicits a positive response from its consumers. When a consumer sees a product with a certain brand label on it and buys the product, then the brand is considered to be highly valuable. Anything that helps a product be sold is valuable. Anything that increases company value is valuable. If a brand can increase the sales of the company, then in turn it will make the company more profitable. If the brand is useful in generating more sales, then the brand is considered to be of value.

Internet coupons can affect branding in so many ways. The following examples are both positive and negative ways wherein branding is affected. Let us first look at the positive effect. When a certain consumer sees an internet coupon, he or she will most likely have a positive response to the product. For example, an internet coupon with the ad, “Buy two of these calculators and get one free,” will let the consumer know that they could make good use of these calculators. Who would not want three calculators for the price of two? The brand of the calculator will be positively affected because the consumers will say to themselves that this company values its consumers so much that it is now giving away a third calculator for free. The consumer will then say, “We should get this calculator from the shop now.” This is a positive response.

On the other hand, the internet coupon may also affect the brand of the calculator in a negative way. When a consumer sees the internet coupon, “Buy two of these calculators and get one free,” he can always think otherwise. He may think that these calculators are being given internet coupons because they are not selling in the department store. This internet coupon campaign is a desperate attempt of the company to sell these lousy calculators. When the consumer thinks like this, then they will basically not buy the calculator. What is worse is how it affects the brand. Since these coupons may elicit a negative response, then no one else may want to buy these calculators because of the image it conveyed through the internet coupons. The brand of the calculator will be affected both now and in the future. No one may want to buy these calculators because since they were sold at a huge discount before, they are likely lousy in performance.

Companies should think very well on how they issue internet coupons. These internet coupons will affect their company brand either in a positive or a negative way. A company should not simply issue internet coupons left and right, they should think twice or even thrice before making such move.

How To Become Prosperous And Stay That Way (Part 3)

This is part three in my prosperity articles. This series is making out to be a long one but if people are getting any good advice out of it then it is worth it. For the most part affiliate marketing is how I put these into practice but they can be used no matter how your financial marketing works. I hope you will come back frequently to look at my newly published articles and I would hope you would tell you friends about them.

1. Don’t Hire People

To make your business prosperous you don’t have to hire staff. You just have to make sure you partner up with the right people. You do have to do some research in order to ask the right questions. You just have to make sure you surround yourself with the right people. Even if you know absolutely nothing about the business. You just have to partner with someone who knows the business. I don’t know a thing about welding but if I surround myself with the right people, do the research and ask the right questions then I could open a very successful welding shop.

2. You Have To Believe In What You Are Selling

In my early days I tried selling vacuum cleaners, no sale. Tried selling encyclopaedias, no sale. Tried selling pots and pans, no sale. Why because I had absolutely no belief in what I was selling. I first became successful when I started selling insurance because I saw how important insurance was when my mother died. She had insurance which allowed us to mourn and the insurance company took care of the bills. I had to get out of that though because my employer was getting to pushy and getting me to sell more to people than they could afford. The affiliate marketing program that I endorse now has done so much for my online career that I have no problem believing in it. So because it has done so much for me and my affiliates I don’t have to be embarrassed to promote it.

3. You Can Force Yourself Sometimes

Sometimes you just have to make yourself do something. When I was thinking about writing my novel I would procrastinate because writing a novel is a huge undertaking. Finally I started telling myself every day that I could write the novel. After about 6 months I had myself convinced that I could write a novel. So a year after that I was working on getting my novel published. It is still in the process of getting published but by forcing myself like the little engine that could I did write the book.

You can separate yourself from the vast majority of marketers and create a sustainable competitive advantage by providing up-front value (in addition to your company material) that the prospect can use in his/her overall decision making process.

Tip #2- Be sure that what you are using can be duplicated through out your organization. There’s nothing worse than attributing an increase in your business success to something that another leader in your organization cannot use as well.

When you’re designing your web business and writing your sales messages which sex are you designing and writing for? Bet you’ve never thought about it! Yet there are profound differences between men and women in the world of shopping and you’d better start thinking about them, because women outrank men when it comes to buying stuff!

Let’s start with three powerful thoughts:

* Women Spend the money: Women instigate, control or complete over 80% of all retail purchases and they constitute over 50% of all corporate purchsing officers (Statistics are for North America).

* Women earn or control the money: Women on average in North America have pretty much reached wage parity (when you correct for part time and child bearing), but more important they are significant household breadwinners, and either own or will control (as baby boomer women are widowed) the bulk of the capital Women are going to OVERWHELM men economically in the upcoming generation: Women outshine men at school, are taking more degrees, are dominating some faculties and pouring into the high paid professions.

* Women already DOMINATE commerce on the web: By 2000 more women used the web than men, and 6 out of 10 new web users are women and amongst those wired women 83% are primary financial decision makers There’s more! I just didn’t want to depress the guys too much.

Rule 1: Men and women are constructed differently.

There is absolute scientific evidence that women smell, hear, see, touch, and process information and emotions differently from men - differences rooted physically in the way brains develop. Iin the eighth week of pregnancy boy’s brains are flooded with testosterone reshaping their brain structure away from emotion, communication and empathy and toward aggression and sex drive. This causes deep differences in the way men and women experience the world - including shopping.

Rule 2: Women and Men are motivated and driven by very different perspectives on life

If you are writing web text or a sales letter, we feel these different life experiences would lead to different ‘hot buttons’ and ways of communicating as between women and men. Women are driven by community, connectedness, nurturing, safety and their brain circuits favor commnication, gut feelings, emotional memory, and anger suppression. Women also have superior verbal skills.

Rule 3: Women have a very particular and specific shopping pattern

Men are famous for rushing to the store for a single purchase that they make quickly with minimal research and often on impulse. Women don’t do that: they make multiple purchases in one trip, are more likely to research the purchase, more likely to take it back, and less likely to be impulsive. Some thoughts:

? Women are demanding in making the initial purchase in a category, they recoup their time investment by staying more loyal to the brand they’ve chosen in subsequent purchase cycles increasing retention rates

? Word-of-mouth recommendation is more prevalent among women, they are more likely to recommend to others those brands or salespeople that impress them favorably — in essence, free marketing of the most powerful kind..

? The big risk - capturing women and losing men. Well, it turns out not to be a risk at all. Companies have found that marketing and service improvements designed to enhance brand appeal among women have resulted in greater customer satisfaction among men as well. The reason? In many respects, women want all the same things as men - and then some. Accordingly, when you meet the higher expectations of women, you are more than fulfilling the demands of men. Experience indicates that men do not abandon brands that tilt the purchase experience toward women. However, we would point out that economically, given the purchase and money data shown earlier - who cares if you lose a few low value male customers?!!!!!

If you’re a man (or a woman who’s been brought up on traditional methods), isn’t it worth re-orienting your thinking. Absolutely! If you think 80% of the market is worth it. And don’t forget, after lots of male-orientation, in many categories, the traditional male targets are saturated; the corresponding women’s segments are untapped and virtually uncontested by competition.

The purpose of this article is by far not to say negative things about other web designers, or programmers, but instead to give website owners a few hints to help them find a designer that may better fit their needs. My hope in writing this article is to create savvier website consumers.

Many website owners are lost, confused and just plain “mystified” about the real purpose of a “web guy”, or web designer. The reason for this is because many designers are often too busy to promptly return emails or give encrypted answers to their client’s questions and concerns regarding their website design needs, its state, and generally what the client is going to gain from having a website.

A friend will suggest his webmaster: “My web designer is great, why don’t you give them a call? Tell them I sent you.” While this may sound like a wonderful idea, you should ensure yourself that your web designer will meet and exceed your “web needs”. You should use the same diligence you’d use if you had to find this person yourself.

So, here are several pointers that website owners should follow when choosing a web designer:

- Check references! Go to sites used as a reference by the web designer and email the owner. Ask questions and see if you get the similar, positive, feedback from the site’s owner.

- Don’t hesitate to check testimonials. In the same fashion you may check reference sites, you may also check testimonials. A quick email, or phone call, to the website’s owner may prove to be enlightening.

- Ask for background info. How long has the designer been in the business and what has he done? In other words, what is their competency and skill level? Is he or she part of any recognized relevant organization or association (International Webmasters Association…)?

- Check the status of the business with the county clerk. Is the designer’s business registered? In other words, know who you are dealing with. If you cannot confirm that the business exists, you should question its legitimacy. The Better Business Bureau may also have a file on the business.

- Is the web designer working full-time or is he designing websites at his leisure? The difference may greatly impact deadlines and how promptly changes are made. In this day and age, fresh content is vital to the success of any website and timely uploads are essential. Furthermore, he may not be up-to-date on the latest news and techniques.

- Where will your personal and website info be saved? Does the designer work in an office? At home? Who has access to the machine your info will stored in?
